The fabulous wines we featured:
2009 Napa Valley, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
- 91 points, The Wine Advocate
- 90 points, Connoisseurs’ Guide
- 90 points, Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar
Tasting Notes: A lovely nose of red fruits, cola, dust and cocoa leads us on a joy ride of dried currant, plum and blackberry flavors. Fine tannins create a long-lasting finish.
2009 ToKalon Vineyard, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
- 97 points, Wine Enthusiast
- 94 points, Connoisseurs' Guide
- 92 points, Wine Spectator
Tasting Notes: Expresses an exciting nose of bright cherry, fleshy blackberry preserves with a powdering of French barrel vanillin. The color is brilliantly dark and nuances of this wine are pure as there hasn.t been any filtering or fining where flavors may be inadvertently absorbed or stripped.
We haven't reinvented the wheel. Occasionally we macerate the fruit before fermentation. In '05 we macerated, in '06 we didn't. We use commercial yeasts. No extended maceration. We know the French forests we like and coopers. Then it is just a matter of blending. That is the heart of it. That is where we excel!
