Ballentine Vineyards
The fabulous wines we featured:
2009 Napa Valley Old Vine Zinfandel
- Gold Medal, American Fine Wine
- 90 points, Ken's Wine Guide
- 88 points, Beverage Testing Institute
Tasting Notes: It has classic flavors of black cherry, clove, and fresh rose petals. The palate has a silky texture, with bold flavors of black cherry and raspberry. Very jammy, this Zinfandel is complimented by flavors of vanilla and cranberries. The wine has well balanced acidity, and an extremely long finish.
2010 Napa Valley, Pocai Vineyards Chenin Blanc
- Silver Medal, San Francisco Chronicle Wine Comp.
- Grapes sourced from vines planted in 1906
Tasting Notes: The 2010 Chenin Blanc has really focused on the fruit, floral aromas and spiciness of the wine. It has aromas of citrus, pears, lemon and honeysuckle and a zesty citrus character on the palate. The structure is full and silky with a crisp finish.
Winemaker's Notes
“Van and Betty Ballentine are not in it for the glory and prestige,” says winemaker Bruce. “They just want to make good wine.”
