Nicely layered oaky spice and earthy BLACK fruits, lively!  Mocha-cocoa, Creamy vanilla oak, a bit of brown spice raisin cookie--nutmeg/cinnamon.  Nice weight to go with food, good structure for aging.

91 points, Connoisseurs' Series (Jan. 13): "Underripe Zinfandel is not a great deal of fun and neither are those that smack of prune juice, but somewhere between the two extremes lies a sweet spot that this one clearly has hit. Very deep and defined with a wealth of incisive blackberry fruit at its heart, the wine is both big and impeccably balanced with the authority that good Zin should have. It makes no apologies or excuses for its ripeness yet is never in danger of being too much of a good thing, and it shows the structure and depth to gain with a half-decade of age."
