The fabulous wines we featured:
2007 Napa Valley Pinot Noir
- Silver Medal, Riverside International Wine Comp.
- Just 948 cases made.
Tasting Notes: Deep red in color, this 100% Pinot Noir starts off with rich flavors of cherry, spice and oak. The cherry notes continue on the palate, joined by plum and more toasty oak.
2007 Napa Valley Merlot
- Silver Medal, Riverside Int.l. Wine Competition
- 83 points, Wine Spectator
- Just 739 case made
Tasting Notes: This deep, solid Merlot offers aromas of blackcurrant, vanilla and toasty oak before diving into lavish cassis, vanilla and oak flavors. Lush, lovely and well-structured, it sends a goodbye kiss with fine tannins.
Carrefour produced its first Pinot Noir from Truchard Vineyards in 2002. Tony Truchard has 400 acres of vines. I sat down with Tony and Joanne and our winemaker, and we decided to get half of our Pinot fruit from the old Martini clone.
