Aged: 15 Years

Color is holding but the edges of the glass show some brackish hues. There is still plenty of life to the color. Aromas of herb, cedar and cigar box develop with air to chocolate, coffee and briary black berry. Oak adds sweetness to the nose. The overall character is more like aged Bordeaux than California Cab. Black berry and cherry flavors are surprisingly concentrated in the mouth. Olive and bay leaf adds the same Bordeaux like signature to the flavors. The palate is still solid and well structured with firm tannins that quickly soften with air. The wine remains supple and well textured long after opening.

Wine Spectator (Web only, 2009): “1998 California Cabernet retrospective,” “…holds onto a nice core of dried currant and berry fruit that’s mature, intense and balanced."

This wine was recently featured in The California Wine Club's wine of the month club.
