Clos Pegase Winery
Its history, vision and wines all reflect the love that Clos Pegase Founders Jan and Mitsuko Shrem shared for this iconic winery. Their passion led to a landmark for extraordinary art, architecture, and of course, wine. It all began in 1983 when the couple ended a long search for the perfect vineyard property and bought 50 acres near Calistoga in northern Napa Valley. Jan had studied winemaking in Bordeaux, and he and Mitsuko were entranced with Greek mythology. The name Clos Pegase salutes the ancient Greeks, and their winged horse Pegasus (on the winery label) proclaims their dedication to only estate wines (clos means enclosed place).

Winemaker's Notes
This complex Sauvignon Blanc hews close to the wines of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé, but with a more hedonistic Napa Valley fruit pedigree – bright, crisp citrus, gooseberry and tarragon aromas and flavors with a refreshingly bright acidity and clean finish. The chilly Carneros ensures that our Merlot wines are brimming with fresh plummy fruit character complemented by a hint of fresh pipe tobacco on the finish.
