Red as summer cherries, this wine greets you with aromas of red fruits and spices that continue on the palate. The finish is a lovely, long invitation for another pour.
2 stars (out of possible 3), Pro Wein 2008.
Fruit for this wine came from the Clos del Pinell vineyard in the Terra Alta D.O. This red is a blend of Red Garnacha, Mazuela (Carignane) and Syrah. Each grape variety was separately fermented and kept on it own skins for 14 days. The Mazuela wine was aged by itself in American oak barrels. Wine lots were blended together, bottled, and then bottle aged several months to marry the components together.
Serve between 55° and 59°F with red meats, stews, rice and cured and blue cheeses. Enjoy now or hold up to three years.
This wine was recently featured in The California Wine Club's wine of the month club.
