Aged: 11 Years
This wine seems to have aged gracefully. Despite its age the color is still deep and rich. The nose has that very classic Rutherford dust. Earthy mushrooms, black pepper and chocolate covered cherries soaked in brandy entice the nose. Vanilla bean and essence of Fall linger (think crushed leaves in the backyard). Oak and cigar wrapper seem to sneak in. The palate has a cool and refreshing camphor note. Beautiful and lush, sweet fruit character with hints of tobacco take you to a long and elegant finish.
“Intense and spicy, at a stage where the fruit still shows vibrancy, offering a mix of red and dark berry, licorice and espresso. The tannins aren't shy, but the fruit pushes through. Drink now through 2017.” - James Laube, Wine Spectator, Web only
