Aged: 10 Years
The volcanic ash soil of Volcanic Hill lends its unique character to the nose of rich currant fruit and cassis. Expansive aromas are heightened by black cherry, chocolate, vanilla and a hint of smoke. Complex flavors peak with rich, mouth-filling cassis, dark chocolate and black cherry. The finish is silken, rich and complex.
93 points, Connoisseurs’ Guide (August 2006): “…dense, highly extracted currant fruit as its major theme …"
91 points, Wine & Spirits (December 2006): “…the wine is heady with soildriven spice…the texture feels cool, with exceptional weight in the mouth."
Pairs beautifully with roasted meats and game with the addition of rosemary and thyme, or a red wine glaze made with a dark fruit like blackberries and those same herbs.
