Dierberg Chardonnay's are characterized by their strong impression of acidity and by a finish that lingers for nearly a minute on the palate. Deep mango, grapefruit and lemon grass aromas balanced with fresh lemon peel notes and a creamy hazelnut impression. On the palate the wine is all citrus: lemon rind, lemon curd and lemon blossoms.
91 points, The Tasting Panel, Anthony Dias Blue (Feb. 2008): "Tangy, subtle acidity and clean, ripe flavors of citrus and pear; lush and elegant."
90 points, Wine Enthusiast (Dec. 31, 2008): "Oak and lees mark the Burgundy-style Chardonnay, giving a creamy, smoky, doughy full body that the underlying wine is fully capable of supporting by virtue of the strength and purity of its fruit. It’s Chablisian, with mineral infused lemon and pear flavors."
90 points, Connoisseurs' Guide (Feb. 2008): "This sleek and firmly built Chardonnay trades on freshness and precise, slightly juicy, green-apple fruit far more than its does on obvious ripeness, and it slowly reveals complexing mineral notes and nicely fit oak. Crisp and refreshing without veering to stiff-ness, it offers a fine look at cool-climate grapes and will star in the company of richer shellfish."
90 points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Yellow-gold. Leesy pear, nectarine and white peach on the nose, with an exotic smoked meat quality adding depth. Ripe and round, displaying focused orchard fruit flavors and gentle acidity. Picks up a gingerbread note on the long, juicy finish. Just shy of exotic, and a serious palate-stainer."
