Shows typical dark fruit character in the form of blueberry, blackberry, plum and violets. This vintage is also complemented by more subtle red fruit aromatics and delicate floral notes. There is a wonderful savory character on display with notes of cured ham giving support to subtle hints of oak. The palate weight is round and giving, with a fresh and vivacious finish. Syrah drinks well in its youth, and should also deliver many years of cellar worthy enjoyment.
91 points, Connoisseurs' Series (Nov. 12): “Concentrated and fully expressed dark-berry fruit is in ample evidence here with elements of sweet oak, dried herbs and bare hints of root-beer-like spice adding richness and range to the mix. If already wonderfully supple and deceptively accessible on the palate, this keenly focused Syrah is both polished and quite carefully balanced with a fine line of structural tannins, and it is years away from reaching its best.”
