Aged: 10 Years

2004 was a warm year, also an early year, which brought us rich, powerful Cabernets in Napa Valley. This Ehlers Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is exactly that. The tannins are full and robust with a stony quality. Flavors are a mosaic of dried blueberries, candied cherries, black plums, freshly ground cocoa, and a hint of nutmeg. The structure is massive with a silky middle and a long chewy finish. This wine will cellar for decades to come.

Connoisseurs’ Guide (December 2007): “Deep, well-focused, black-currant fruit is met in the nose by a bit of vanilla, cocoa and coffee and is carried on into the dense, brooding young flavors… Needing more than a few years of age before it can fully unfold, it is a classic expression of ageworthy Cabernet…”

Wine Enthusiast (Jun 15, 2007): “Tightly wound, firm and complex, with dried currant, anise, sage and berry notes. Well-proportioned, with cedary oak on the finish…”

Best paired with lamb and smoked meats of all types.
