Strong aromatics that jump out of the glass with aromas of fresh cut flowers, blueberry, blackberry, cassis and roasted meats. The wine has a rich, creamy texture of pure dark fruit, blueberry, cassis, a hint of smoke and nicely balanced acidity. Refined tannins provide soft structure to give great length on the finish.
91 points, Connoisseurs' Series (Nov. 12): “This is a deep, well-concentrated Syrah with beefy, spicy overlays to its concentrated blackberry fruit and sporting background hints of bacon and herbs. It is full in body yet it is all varietal in flavor as well and the suggestions of layering that propel its aromas show up in convincing fashion on the palate and linger on and on in the wine's well-crafted finish. Wholly varietal and absolutely in balance, it is certain to grow in bottle for a half decade and will hold for years beyond that.”
A mere 170 cases were made.
