Bursts with red fruit aromas of cherry and raspberry, which come from the Zinfandel, but this wine also has multiple layers of dark fruits such as blackberries and currants that come from the Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah. The addition of Cabernet Franc really enhances these flavors and ties everything together. The palate has a soft, elegant entry provided by the Zinfandel, while the mid-palate offers rich, bold flavors.
The final blend was 48% Zinfandel, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petite Sirah.
92 points, Connoisseurs' Guide (May 2012): “As Duckhorn’s Paraduxx has proven numerous times in the past, Zinfandel can partner quite well with Cabernet, and this well-composed effort reiterates the point. Rich, generously fruited, tempered in ripeness and fairly refined vis-à-vis balance, the wine is long on Zinfandel berries with accents of cassis and loam peeking out here and there. Firm at the finish with a tail of Cabernet tannin, this is an ageworthy wine that is sure to improve, and it warrants four or five years of patience.”
