The nose is unmistakably Zinfandel. Spicy aromas along with red fruits and pomegranate predominate, complexed further with slight raisiny notes from the riper zinfandel grapes. The color is a vibrant red/purple showing nice depth. The wine is medium bodied and structured with bright acidity, finishing with evident but soft tannins. Great with pasta, red meat and cheese.
94 points, James Halliday (Australia’s top wine critic) (February 2009): “An utterly distinctive bouquet…terrific lift, life and thrust to the finish. Groom’s Californian experience shines through…”
91 points, Wine Business Monthly 100 (an Australian publication) “Exceptional”, Dan Berger’s Vintage Experiences: “Brilliant pomegranate/cranberry fruit and perfect balance…startling fruit and a classic finish…A bargain.”
