The color is deep and inky, a clue to the rich flavors that follow. On the palate, juicy red fruit persists with bay leaf and clove in the background. The finish is long and flavorful, leaving trails of dusty cocoa.

92 points, Connoisseurs' Guide, (11/10): “Elsewhere in this issue, Laird gathers high marks for its rich and well-ripened Merlot, and this powerful and positively mouthfilling Syrah is if anything richer yet. It offers up an extravagant mix of blackberries, game, sweet oak and a touch of milk chocolate, and, while it goes to brink in terms of ripeness, it does not quite go over the edge. Its ample varietal tannins are not at all out of bounds, and its finishing gruffness is certain to ease after five or six years of forbearance.”

Just 295 cases made. This wine is a nice complement to gamey meats, such as lamb or venison.
