Aged 17 Years:

A balanced earthy, oak nose with just a bit of spiced dark fruit leads to smooth body from the front of the palate to the finish. The fruit was mellow, integrated and completely present. The body of the wine was medium and firm. Very good balance in the acid and tannins. The finish was lingering, smooth, round and well structured.

“Rodney Strong…one of the most respected vintners in Sonoma County, died March 5… He was 78…Strong had an instinctual feeling of what grapes to plant. His Alexander’s Crown Cabernet Sauvignon, which was first released in 1974, was in its day one of the top examples of that variety in California, and an early example of a vineyard-designated wine …Strong helped Sonoma County…to become a premium powerhouse second only to Napa Valley… ” —Wine Enthusiast online, March 7, 2006, Steve Heimoff “Rodney Strong Dies”
