Exhibiting rock solid aromas of cassis, smoked meats, leather, licorice, and cedar, this medium-bodied Syrah has a silky, beautifully polished texture, good concentration, and a classically dry, chewy finish. This is very well done and certainly delicious.

Final blend: 65% Syrah and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon.

94 points, Wine & Spirits (Apr. 13): "...It’s almost as if the tannins themselves are releasing flavor—pinpoint drops of herb-tinged fraise-de-bois energy refreshing its sun-ripened warmth..."

94 points, The Tasting Panel (Apri. 12): "Topline of ripe fruit, wrapped in mocha. This blend of 65% Syrah and 35% Cab Sauvignon defines Santa Ynez’s focus and lush drinkability..."

92 points, Wine Spectator (Feb. 28, 2013): "Both intense and focused, with rich, vibrant, pepper-laced blackberry, this is graceful, ending with roasted herb, mocha and espresso notes that glide across the palate."

91 points, Connoisseurs' Guide (Mar. 13): ".... It is slightly plush and full-bodied with plenty of tannin for grip, and, while it may never be a prim and nuanced wine, it finishes with the fruity stamina to convince that it has a very promising future."

Just 225 cases made. It should continue to flesh out with a year in bottle, and drink well over the following several years.

This wine was recently featured in The California Wine Club's wine of the month club.
