94 Points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (#172, August 2007): The stunningly full-bodied, rich, opulent, ripe 2004 Syrah Roll Ranch offers lovely aromas of melted licorice, creme de cassis, blackberries, violets, and underbrush. It is deep, full-bodied, velvety-textured, and as always, the most forward and evolved of the Ojai Syrahs. Enjoy it over the next decade or more.
93 points, Connoisseurs' Guide (March 08): “One of California’s leading Syrah bottlings year after year leaps to the top again in this vintage. Its nose is aturated with plush blackberry and sweet plum fruitiness, lavish oak that is both high in vanilla and crème brulee richness and underlying hints of dried figs and meats. Quite full on the palate, and a bit more viscous than many previous vintages, the wine nonetheless is well-balanced and complete in feel and avoids any suggestion of excess. Capable of being enjoyed now or later, this wine has its ducks in order.”
A mere 520 cases were produced - sold out at the winery.
This wine was featured in The California Wine Club's wine of the month club.
