Reds and purples temper a black background color from which scents of crushed pepper, blueberries, strawberries and blackberries rise. The forward flavors are bright and juicy, round and lively, finishing smooth though not flabby.

93 points, Connoisseurs' Guide (Jan.12): “Filled out with compelling and longlasting Zinfandel fruit and remarkably adept at managing its high ripeness, this gusty, full-bodied youngster is exceptionally well-balanced for the big wine that it is. Rather than running to softness, it firms and tightens up as it goes, and its fine spine of integral tannins tags it as one that will only get better if allowed four or five years of age.”

92 points, Wine Enthusiast (Apr. 12): “…a delicious wine, wonderfully drinkable, with deep, complex blackberry, cassis, dark chocolate, licorice, raisin, black pepper and sandalwood flavors that finish long and spicy.”

90 points, Stephen Tanzer’s International Cellar (May 2012): “Potent aromas of dark berry preserves, cola, violet and licorice, with a subtle floral note that gains strength with air. Lush and creamy in texture, offering deep blackberry and cherry compote flavors that show a suave blend of richness and energy.”
