Clos La Neuve
Located in the gorgeous Côtes de Provence region of the South of France, Clos La Neuve has been in operation since 1936 when Henry Désiré purchased the property and its vineyard. As President of the local wine cooperative, he understood the soils and terroir well and could barely wait to begin replanting the vineyard to the grape varieties that would best suit each particular bit of topography. Today, the 100-acre vineyard is still surrounded by more than 500 acres of woodlands Henry left as natural cover for birds, deer and other wildlife.
The fabulous wines we featured:
2012 Rouge desir Cotes de Provence
- Sold just at the estate and not entered into competitions
- All of the grapes were grown at the Clos La Neuve estate in southern France.
Tasting Notes: Ruby red, this wine offers aromas and flavors of dark red fruit and spice, with supple tannins. Allow it to breathe for two to three minutes. Terrific with red meats and small game.
2012 Blanc tentation, Cotes de Provence
- Silver Medal, Concours General Agricole 2013.
- 100% Vermentino grape
Tasting Notes: Tentation means temptation, and it lures you in with intense floral aromas and a refreshing, lemony tang.
Winemaker's Notes
Fruit was hand harvested and fermented. “Good wines need time, that’s why our red ones are kept at least one year in cement tanks."
The white is 100% Vermentino (or Rolle in southern France), known for producing light, fragrant, refreshing wines. Fruit was harvested in the cool of the night. Grapes fermented in temperature-controlled tanks at around 61°F for 15 days.
