Showing a vibrant ruby color, this Syrah has rich flavors of wild blackberry, plum and cassis, with hints of chocolate, toffee and coffee from barrel aging. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah boost the structure of the wine mid-palate, while big tannins carry the diverse flavors through the mouth for a long, rewarding finish.
The final blend includes 76% Syrah, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petite Sirah.
93 points, Connoisseurs' Guide (7/11) “There is already plenty of deep, incisively focused fruit and interest to be had here, yet for all of its precision and polish, this is still a very young wine. It is not a massive or especially tough wine, but it is a well-balanced one with the kind of structure that encourages aging, and, while it will serve famously with a well-seasoned rib roast right now, we would lobby for at least four or five years of further forbearance.
