“Not in my wildest dreams” did Claus ever intend to become so involved in viticulture. Yet, it’s a natural extension of his journey with Bacio Divino. Now he says, "we live where we work, on the sunny and vine-dappled peaks of Napa Valley, overlooking the town of St. Helena. Possessed of naked idealism and fierce, if cloudy, ambitions, we undertook in 1993 to etch out our own signature wine."
Tasting Notes: Put on your tails and top hat to keep company with this most elegant Pinot Noir. “Ours has the best of both worlds,” says Claus. Elegance and nuance mixed with a full rich mouthfeel, and long, drawn out finish. Invite some royalty over for dinner, or just treat your friends like royalty and share this incredible bottle.
Tasting Notes: Sing a song of Syrah with this sumptuous Vagabond. Smoke, pepper and bacon fat on the nose announce rich, full flavors and a good reason to wander away with some fine wine.
We haven't reinvented the wheel. Occasionally we macerate the fruit before fermentation. In '05 we macerated, in '06 we didn't. We use commercial yeasts. No extended maceration. We know the French forests we like and coopers. Then it is just a matter of blending. That is the heart of it. That is where we excel!
