Aged: 9 Years

This is a memorable, big-style Napa Cabernet, inky and purple, with characteristic scents of blackcurrant cassis, blackberry and a whiff of bay leaf. Black fruit, tart and dry, is framed by fresh-fruit acidity, smooth but substantial tannins and warm 14.9% alcohol. Eight years after the vintage it still shows significant potential for further aging.

90+ points, Wine Advocate, Robert M. Parker, Jr. (December 2008): “Revealing a deeper ruby/purple color as well as a classic bouquet of blueberries, crème de cassis, spring flowers, and background earth, the medium to full-bodied, moderately tannic 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon can be drunk now or cellared for 12-15 years.”

90 points, Connoisseurs’ Guide, (August 2008): “Young, deep, direct and promising…well-focused and awaits some patient cellaring to open up and reveal its full, layered personality…”
