Cobblestone Vineyards
It’s easy to forget that to succeed, California’s wine pioneers needed courage and a willingness to take risks, as demonstrated by Saul Levine and his Cobblestone Vineyards. In the late 1960s it occurred to Saul, who was involved in broadcasting at the time, that winegrowing and California would be a perfect blend.
The California Wine Club is always pleased to put Cobblestone's wines in front of our wine club members, and our members respond gratefully every time.
The fabulous wines we featured:
2010 Atlas Peak Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
- Only 100 cases produced
- Pair with any grilled meat, such as bone-in rib-eye, rack of lamb with fresh rosemary, or beef and buffalo burgers
- Enjoy now or hold 5+ years
Tasting Notes: As the wine opens up, blueberry and boysenberry aromas are joined by blackcurrant, cedar, leather, bay laurel and loamy earth, with hints of graphite and cacao nibs. Rich, ripe fruits greet the palate leaning towards blackberry with a balanced brightness and acidity that gives it a lift. On the mid-palate, round and full-bodied tannins laced with caramel and vanilla mingle with crème de cassis on the long finish. This absolutely stunning Cabernet Sauvignon offers layers of flavors that keep you coming back for more. This wine is singing now with many years ahead of graceful aging.
Winemaker's Notes
Cobblestone Vineyards sources fruit from its Arroyo Seco, Atlas Peak and Martinborough, New Zealand vineyards. It’s a powerful triad for a passionate pioneer and its second generation. Gold medals, 90+ point ratings and our appreciation for never giving up are worthy results for this small California artisan.
