Rich aromas of chocolate, coffee, mocha, dark berries, caramel and toasty vanillin oak lead to flavors of luscious dark berry fruit, dusty mocha tones and dark bittersweet chocolate. The tannins are firm and chewy.
92 points, Robert M. Parker, Jr., Wine Advocate (January 2010): “…probably the best wine I have tasted from Monticello in many years…Full-bodied, layered, expressive, and pure…should keep for two decades.”
5 stars (out of possible 5), “Best of the Best, Top 10 of 2009” Quarterly Review of Wines (Summer 2009): “Rich, texturous, well-knit black fruit, mineral, mocha and nutty oak flavor.”
4 (out of 5) stars, Decanter (January 2010)
