Daou Vineyards
In the Adelaida appellation of Paso Robles’ prestigious west side, nearby Hearst Castle as the crow flies, brothers Georges and Daniel Daou have created the winery of their dreams. Their estate encompasses 212 acres, including the former Hoffman Mountain Ranch.
This appellation is unusual in several ways. It boasts some of the region’s few expanses of calcareous soil. It has higher elevations, reaching to 2,200 feet on the DAOU estate. And, it is closer to the ocean; fog and wind are free to roll through the Templeton Gap, making this appellation cooler than most in Paso Robles.
