Explosive aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, blueberry and grape jam, framed by deeply pitched, higher toned notes of asphalt, leather, and tar with fresh and dried herbal notes and pine, along with animal scents of smoked and dried meats and rare beef. In the mouth the wine is medium to full bodied, with great concentration and length, demonstrating fruit notes of blueberries, blackberries, boysenberries, ripe plums an hints of cherry, along with tar and a mélange of dried herbs.

  • 92 points, International Wine Cellar (Nov./Dec. 13): "Inky ruby.  Smoky aromas of black and blue fruit liqueur, cola, olive tapenade and floral oils, with a peppery topnote..."
  • 91 points, Connoisseurs' Guide (March 2014): Plentiful spice and suggestions of game are set against a substantial backdrop of mixed berries and sweet oak in the involving aromas of this big, rather obviously ripened Syrah, and, in the mouth, the message is one of varietal richness and ongoing fruit."
