E16 Wine Company
The fabulous wines we featured:
2014 Trenton 1880 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
- 92 Points, Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine
- 92 Points, The Tasting Panel
- 92 Points, The Prince of Pinot (PinotFile)
Tasting Notes: The prettiest and most polished of E16's quintet of Pinots and a wine that is rife with very pure, ripe cherry fruit, the Trenton 1880 is a supple, optimally ripened, fairly full-bodied rendition whose ready richness is delivered with an ever so slightly lighter hand. It joins those accessible, but balanced, Pinot Noirs whose inherent succulence will tempt hasty drinking, yet, while there admittedly are abundant pleasures to be had now, there is also increased complexity to come and a little patience is sure to bring manifold rewards.
2014 The West End Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
- 94 Points, Wine Enthusiast
- 92 Points, The Prince of Pinot (PinotFile)
- 91 Points, Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine
Tasting Notes: A bit bigger and broader than any of its four cellarmates and slightly more substantial in constitution, this solid, impressively extracted take on Pinot is a deep and still somewhat brooding youngster that will require at least a few years of time before showing all that it has. Its ample size does not come with any concessions to unbridled ripeness and it is long on concentrated black cherry fruit, and, if not an especially rough-hewn wine, it is not nearly as polished as it will be when it grows into its best five or six years down the line.
