Cassis driven, with sparks of mineral and wild cherry wrapped in candy -- a Boston Baked Bean or Hot Tamale. Rounded out with French vanilla bean and hints of brown sugar and cinnamon. This wine is very different from the ‘Haley’s’ bottling. It’s more espresso in aromas and flavors and much more forward in its display of the vineyards darker aspects. Pure intensity!

97 points, Connoisseurs' Guide: "Its alcohol is buffered by a wealth of very rich, well-defined fruit, and its tannic frame is covered with plenty of flesh. Most importantly it smells and tastes of Syrah from first sniff on through to its very long, flavor-packed finish."

90+ points, Wine Advocate, Robert M. Parker, Jr.: "The inky 2007 Syrah Rockpile Vineyard Buffalo Hill (63 cases) displays abundant graphite and meat-like notes, but it is obviously extremely limited in availability."

A mere 63 cases were made.  If you can hold it, cellar for 15-20 years.

This wine was recently featured in The California Wine Club's wine of the month club.
