Nagy Wines
Clarissa Nagy’s introduction to winemaking occurred when she was waiting for a job offer to come through as a food scientist with Nabisco. She worked at Edna Valley Winery and so began years of learning at a bevy of Central Coast wineries. By 2004, Clarissa was head winemaker at Rancho Arroyo Grande Winery and in 2005 she began her own brand, Nagy Wines. She produces just 650 cases annually using four vineyards in cool Santa Maria Valley and Los Alamos.
The fabulous wines we featured:
2011 Garey Ranch Vineyard, Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir
- 91 points, International Wine Cellar
- 90 points, The Wine Advocate
- Pairs with sashimi, sushi rolls, salmon and pork tenderloin.
Tasting Notes: Forget science and instead revel in the art of fine winemaking with this elegant Pinot Noir. On the nose, cherries, Chinese Five Spice and rose petals lure you to flavors of raspberries and cherries.
Winemaker's Notes
It’s mostly about finding a great fruit source and fully expressing the vineyard. I’d like you to taste and experience in my wines, what I taste in the grapes at harvest. My vineyard-driven winemaking aims for complex, enjoyable wines to drink now and for years to come.
