The nose is very expressive with strong aromas of red and purple fruits such as crushed currant and raspberry with black cherry. On the palate, the wine expands to reveal a full and powerful mid-palate with layers of rich, ripe tannin. Fresh berry flavors fill the mouth and echo through the finish. This wine is the purest possible expression of Skipstone and showcases the vineyard in a great vintage.

94 points, Connoisseurs' Guide (12/10): “... Its toasted caramel, ripe currant fruit and sense of layering have plenty of volume yet, despite the wine's obvious fullness and ripeness, are supple and structured with not so much as a hair out of place..."

92 points, Wine Enthusiast (12/15/10): “Enormously rich and complex in blackberry tart, black currant, crème de cassis, licorice and bacon flavors...”

92 points, The Wine Advocate (02/11, #193): “…a wonderful bouquet of bay leaf, blueberry, black currant, graphite and ink. Superb richness and opulence…”

92 points, Wine & Spirits Magazine (12/10): "... wine is sleek and lavishly oaked, but the bright red fruit is substantial enough to subsume the new oak sweetness and convert it from cocoa into something earthier."
