Spicy Cajun Shrimp

Spicy Cajun Shrimp

Yield: Serves 4

This seafood recipe was shared by the Coquerel Family Wine Estate and pairs deliciously with their crisp Sauvignon Blanc.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp dried basil, crushed
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp oregano, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic, minced
  •  1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large tomato, peeled and coarsely diced
  • 2 dz large shrimp or 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 Tbsp beer, room temperature
  • prepared white rice

Preparation

  1. In a small bowl combine basil and next 6 ingredients, mixing well. 
  2. In large nonstick skillet (or wok) over high heat, combine basil mixture with butter, garlic and Worcestershire sauce. 
  3. When butter melts, stir in the tomato and the shrimp.  Cook and stir for 2 minutes. 
  4. Add beer then cover and cook 1 minute or until shrimp is cooked through (do not over cook). 
  5. Serve over hot cooked rice.
