Dark plum and sour cherry flavors; fresh herbs and crushed dried lavender; alpine blueberries and figs macerated with asian spices.
96 points, Connoisseurs' Guide (Nov.12): "La Croce" is quite simply a piece all its own, and a most handsome and unique piece it is. It leads with fascinating aromas of blackberries, pepper, hints of game and a wisp of dried flowers and follows suit on the palate with wonderfully pure and persistent themes of berries and spice. It is fairly big-bodied but never seems at all heavy, and it is long, energetic and impeccably balanced with tailored tannins lending just the right bit of finishing grip..."
91+ points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Nov/Dec 12): (a 50/50 blend of syrah and sangiovese, co-fermented): Full red-ruby. Rather subdued aromas of medicinal black cherry and chocolatey oak. Plush but distinctly dry, offering concentrated flavors of dark berries and mint. Finishes with substantial building tannins that reach the front teeth. Comes across as austere following the Stolpman syrah bottlings."
