Volker Eisele Family Estate
“Our story begins with our love of the land,” says Alexander Eisele who grew up amongst the vines in the Chiles Valley District sub-AVA of Napa Valley. He and his wife, Catherine, are building on the legacy of sustainability created by his parents, Winery Founders Volker and Liesel Eisele, while adding their own fresh perspective.
“It is a special place,” says Alexander of the 400 acre-estate his family purchased in 1974. It had been a vineyard and winery in the 1870s, and the Eiseles chose to only plant vines on the original 60-acre vineyard footprint. “We truly have an attachment to the land, and we treat it accordingly. The riparian corridors around the vineyard provide habitat for native plants and animals and help maintain balance in the vineyard. We have farmed organically since 1974 and our vineyard is CCOF certified organic. As we are getting close to our 50th anniversary, our goal is to farm while keeping future generations in mind. Every wine we bottle comes from our vineyard. We understand our land and we take great pride in our wines because we grow them.”

2015 Las Flores, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
- 90 Points, Wine Enthusiast: “This is a beautiful wine.”
- Pair with: Filet Mignon with Morel mushroom sauce
Tasting Notes: The nose is expressive with a core of bright red cherry, with hints of forest floor. The mouth is delectably weighty with age-softened tannins, and shows flavors of black cherry, black currant, saddle leather, and graphite. This wine is showing brilliantly, and yet with a brightness of fruit and structure that promises plenty of time left to hold in the cellar.
Winemaker's Notes
2016 Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: Volker Eisele Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon blends vineyard blocks from their diverse estate. The varying terrain, clones, and rootstocks create a patchwork of flavor identities. This blend captures a snapshot of the dynamic, ever-changing vineyard, offering a unique expression of the estate's terroir in each Cuvée.
2015 Las Flores, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: The fruit for the Las Flores Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Las Flores block, named by the Nevarez family, who have been farming our land with us since 1974. The block sits where the hillside joins the valley floor. The wine aged for 22 months in French oak barrels (55% new) from Treuil cooperage (Allier and Troncais).
