K. Laz Wine Collection in Yountville brings you sophisticated custom Co-Op tastings.

There are all sorts of Napa Valley and Sonoma County experiences people will rave about, the underdog is definitely the Co-Op tasting room. The word “cooperative” is shortened to “Co-Op” and the idea behind a Co-Op tasting room is collaboration. These places join forces with a bundle of wineries to showcase a wide variety of wines for a meet and mingle.

There are different kinds of Co-Ops, too. Either winery owners will find like-minded colleagues and open a tasting room or you’ll meet wine lovers who built a tasting room experience using their expertise. The advantages are many, with great wines all in one place greatly increasing the amount of wine tasting and/or learning. They say the best way to understand wine is through comparison and that makes Co-Op tasting rooms like private wine lessons.

Here’s a short list of three of our favorite Co-Op tasting rooms in Napa and Sonoma.  Go forth and explore the possibilities!

  • K. Laz Wine Collection-This place resides off Washington Street in downtown Yountville and is tres chic. When owner Kerrin Laz was asked how she describes her business her response was understandably the biggest advantage Co-Op’s have, “guests are tasting line-ups that they would have difficulty tasting elsewhere. And if all those wines had wineries that guests could visit, it would take over a week to visit all of them.”
  • Vintner’s Collective– A gem located in downtown Napa, locals adore this place. Please stop here for a wild compilation of sought after Napa Valley wines plus super cool vibes.
  • Cellars of Sonoma– Go have a Sunday Funday at this hot spot in Healdsburg. On Sundays they are always pouring Sonoma’s finest alongside some good ol’ live country music. They also have an outstanding events calendar.
  • The Panel– Tucked away on West Napa Street in Sonoma this Co-Op tasting will probably blow your mind and your wallet away. It’s off-the-charts, next-level tasting, so indulge!!

Vintner’s Collective in Napa is popular with the locals.

Do you have a favorite Co-Op Tasting Room to share?

Not yet a member and looking for a way to enjoy handcrafted wines and a tour of wine country from the comfort of home? Give us a try!

Since 1990, it’s been our wine club’s mission to help artisan wineries share their small-batch wines with wine enthusiasts everywhere. At The California Wine Club we happen to think these wines simply taste better than the mass-produced wines that dominate store shelves.

We visit the wineries, meet the families and winemakers behind the wines and then invite them to share their favorite wines with our wine club members. Every wine featured in our wine of the month club comes from a real-working winery.
