Tasting Notes: This wine opens with aromas of raspberry and cherry, rosemary, green and black olives, vanilla and violets, all swirling in a background of mellow, aged wine characteristics. Its flavors mirror the aromas with the addition of anise, wintergreen and creamy chocolate notes.
Tasting Notes: Classic blackcurrant cassis aromas characteristic of quality Cabernet, with hints of aromatic cedar and just a touch of freshly brewed black coffee on the nose. Cabernet blackcurrant follows through in the flavor, shaped by fresh acidity and soft, palatable but still perceptible tannins.
For the 1999 vintage, a vineyard in Rutherford provided “Rutherford Dust” characteristics, as well as plumy fruit, earthiness and tea leaf qualities.
The S.L.V. vineyard supplied the fruit for the 2000 vintage. This historic vineyard was planted in 1970, and the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet it produced went on to win the world-famous 1976 Paris Tasting.
